Jim Casterline practices in the areas of Real Estate, Business, Elder Law, and
Pet Law.

He has many years of work in Real Estate Law as a title insurance company counsel, title agency owner and practicing attorney. He is has


served on the Education Committee for the Real Estate and Land Use Section of the Oregon State Bar for seven years, many of them as the committee chair, and also serves on the Executive Committee of the section. He is known as an educator in real estate and tax deferred exchanges by his peers in the Oregon State Bar. He has written six books and hundreds of articles for publication. In addition to practicing law, he has been a business owner. He was a pioneer in the IRC Section 1031 facilitator industry and owns Casterline Henriksbo Exchange Service Company with Paula Henriksbo-Teevin. He specializes in difficult Guardian/ Conservatorship work.

Jim graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts,
has a Masters of Arts from Southern Oregon College (now known as
Southern Oregon University) and has a Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law. He has been admitted

 

to the Oregon State Bar since 1976.

In addition to his professional activities with the Oregon State Bar,Jim is active in Seaside Rotary, is President of the South County Community Food Bank, is a Trustee of Seaside Elks Lodge No. 1748, is a Trustee of Our Lady of Victory John Paul the Great Council of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteers for Partners for Seniors.

• Business Law including corporations, partnerships, LLCs and collection work
including wills, trusts, estates, conservatorships, guardianships and powers of attorney
• Animal Law including Pet Trusts, Pet Powers of Attorney and other animal law questions
